Demand the government apologize and compensate three Canadian men for role in their detention and torture
The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) is calling on supporters and fellow Canadians to write to the federal government to insist on an apology and compensation for three Canadian Muslim men who were arrested, detained, and tortured due to the actions and decisions taken by Canadian officials. Also make sure that your MP hears from you on this issue.
A two-year inquiry concluded in 2008 that the actions of federal government officials indirectly led to the gross violations of their human rights. Secret documents obtained in a recent CBC investigative report reveal that Canadian officials knew the men were being tortured and co-operated with the foreign government conducting the torture.
The government should also assure Canadians that it will no longer share or accept intelligence from states that are known to engage in torture.
