Staff Lawyer (Labour and Employment Law)
The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) is seeking a skilled and committed Staff Lawyer specializing in Labour and Employment Law to join our professional staff and work on issues that impact Muslim and other racialized communities across Canada. Grounded in our vibrant and dynamic communities, NCCM is a national, independent, nonpartisan, and non-profit advocacy organization at the forefront of defending, promoting, and protecting the fundamental rights and public interests of Canadian Muslims.

Position Type: Full-Time
Experience Level: Junior to Mid-Career
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and representation on employment-related matters, including wrongful dismissal, workplace discrimination, and human rights cases.
- Draft legal opinions, submissions, and case strategies for workplace law matters.
- Collaborate with NCCM’s Advocacy and Legal teams to address systemic workplace inequities across Canada.
- Support NCCM’s legal education initiatives through workshops, training sessions, and public outreach on employment law topics.
Qualifications
- Licensed lawyer in good standing with a provincial or territorial law society in Canada.
- 2–5 years of experience in employment or labour law.
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, and supporting marginalized communities.
- Familiarity with workplace issues affecting Muslim and racialized communities in Canada is a strong asset.
