Send this Letter to Ontario Education Leaders on Student and Staff Wellbeing in Light of Human Rights Violations in Palestine

Write a letter today to the Ontario Minister of Education and school boards to speak out against human rights violations in Palestine and support students and staff.

Since the end of Ramadan, our students continue to witness horrifying images and devastation in Palestine. The escalation of Israeli military violence on one of Islam’s holiest sites, the Al-Aqsa mosque, the dispossession and forced expulsion of Palestinians from their homes, and the attacks on civilian targets, including children cannot be ignored.

Students in our classrooms and staff in our buildings are impacted by the events unfolding in their communities and other parts of the world. Students and staff are grappling with how to process these realities alone and without support from educational system leaders. The trauma of bearing witness to forms of oppression has lasting impacts on staff and student mental health and wellbeing, especially for students whose ancestry is from the region.

As educators commit themselves to inclusive practices, silence on human rights violations is no longer an option in our education system.
