NCCM denounces terror attack claiming lives of six Canadians

(Ottawa – January 16, 2016) The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), a prominent Muslim civil liberties & advocacy organization, condemns today’s horrific attack on a luxury hotel in the African country of Burkina Faso which claimed the lives of six Canadians.

In a statement released today, NCCM Executive Director Ihsaan Gardee said:

“Canadian Muslims categorically condemn this despicable act of terror, and all acts of violent extremism and terrorism such as this week’s attack in Jakarta, Indonesia which also claimed the life of a Canadian. We are deeply grieved by the loss of our fellow citizens and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the Canadians brutally murdered in these attacks.”

“We urge the federal government to do everything it can to assist the authorities in Burkina Faso to track down those responsible in order to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.”
