On December 20, the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ) published a letter by Dr. Sherif Emil with deeply disturbing Islamophobic content targeting Muslim girls and women who wear a hijab.
This article falls short of the Canadian Medical Association’s Code of Ethics and Professionalism standards and contributes to dangerously harmful stereotypes about a demographic that has been targeted by some of the most violent forms of Islamophobia in this country

On November 26, the Quebec Court of Appeal found that section 745.51 of the Criminal Code is unconstitutional in the case of Bissonnette v The Queen. This case arose from the brutal Quebec City Mosque killings on January 29, 2017, which was the largest attack on a religious institution in Canadian history.
This means that Alexandre Bissonnette would be eligible for parole in 25 years.
