NCCM 2016 HATE CRIME REPORT (ODIHR)
The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) contributed a detailed report of anti-Muslim incidents and hate crimes in 2016 to the Organization for the Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Information from the NCCM document is included in the latest data release on the Hate Crimes Reporting Website, managed by the Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). Only two Canadian non-government organizations reported figures to the OSCE, of which Canada is a member state.

NCCM Submits Brief on Preclearance Act, 2016
On May 12, 2017, the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), in conjunction with the International Civil Liberties Monitoring Group (ICLMG), submitted a brief to the House Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security on Bill C-23, known as the Preclearance Act, 2016.

Summary of NCCM Recommendations to York Region District School Board (YRDSB) Reviewers
On May 24, 2017 the NCCM, along with concerned parents, submitted recommendations to the team reviewing the governance and equity issues at the York Region District School Board (YRSDB). The reviewers will be submitting a final report with recommendations for next steps to Minster of Education, Hon. Mitzie Hunter, by April 7, 2017.

On February 23, 2017, the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) testified before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights (JUST) on a private member's bill, Bill C-305, An Act to Amend the Criminal Code regarding Mischief. Bill C-305 would expand the protection given to communal spaces against vandalism driven by hate and discrimination. On February 15, 2017, the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) testified before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security (SECU) on Canada's National Security Framework. NCCM Executive Director Ihsaan Gardee spoke before the committee outlining key concerns about the Anti-terrorism Act, 2015, the Government's National Security Green Paper, the no-fly list and information sharing practices.
